An alternative to Chinese medical practitioner, the art of candling comprises used to be two segments; navel and ear candling.  Ear candling is believed to be the traditional approach to ear care which in modern day it is known as ENT therapy (ENT-Ear Nose Throat) that is claim and believed to improve and aid in hearing.

Ear candling practice is gaining wide popularity and there are many articles circulating around. Candling is done by lighting up a cone candle and the other end of the candle is then placed onto the ears. The subject is made to lie on the side bed. The light will be cut 4cm to 5cm toward the end. The procedure will take approximately an hour. The candle is inserted through an opening of a paper plate to protect the ear, then the candle is lit. The use of ear candling create suction in the ear canal will draw out the earwax.

Traditionally, ear candling is used and believed to remove wax thus improve hearing. The use of ear candle and process are not particularly favoured by the general population as they see it as an intimidating practice and it’s painful. There is no pain involved by using ear candling and it’s described by many as painless. This therapy is performed by trained therapist to avoid injury

Navel candling is also known as tummy candling or stomach candling is also of a similar concept. As with ear candling, it is placed at the belly button. As the candles burn it creates a vacuum and it is believed the vacuum assist with the removal of toxin in the body.
